Dan Sampson

Park director and co-owner

Dan owned and operated the Noble Horse Equestrian Center in Chicago from 1980 through 2013, horse performances, riding academy and Michigan Avenue Carriages. Dan produced and directed the Noble Horse performances of Quadrille, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and the Nutcracker on Horseback. Dan has been a licensed horse shoer since 1977, was a USMC cavalry officer, enjoys driving pairs and is an ongoing student of dressage.

Laura Steffee

Park co-owner

Laura operates Border Fox Farm in Wellington, Florida and Folsom, Louisiana. Laura received a BS in equestrian sciences from Meredith Manor/Salem College in 1975. Laura is a successful rider, teacher, and trainer.

Agnes Turek

Horse Park Foundation President

Agnes began her riding career at Noble Horse in 1983. She is an accomplished dressage rider, showing and performing at Equine Affaire and Midwest Horse Faire, has ridden with the World Famous Lipizzan stallions, and in several exhibitions at the Kentucky Horse Park. Agnes co-directed and was the artistic designer for all horse performances at Noble Horse Chicago from 2003 to 2013.

Jane Garling

Horse Park Foundation secretary

Jane is an accomplished dressage rider, Her expertise in business management and grant writing has brought the Illinois Horse Park to its current level of development.

Dora Christensen

Began riding in her native Denmark before coming to the United States in 1988. Dora was head instructor and trainer at the Noble Horse Chicago from 1990-2000. Dora is an accomplished dressage rider and trainer and now owns and operates Epona Farm in Maple Park, Illinois.

Baron Julius VonUhl

Emmigrated to the USA from his native Hungary in 1956. Julius is a renowned “High School” trainer, teaching the advanced riding art of Levade, Capirole, and Courbette. Julius was instrumental in helping train the upper level horses for the various Noble Horse performances. Julius currently does clinics all over the United States.

Sarah Veras

Started out as a working student and carriage driver at Noble Horse. She was the co-artistic director and lead rider for all Noble Horse performances. She is currently a dressage trainer and rider at numerous stables in Northern Illinois.

Rich Costa

Started riding at Noble Horse and became a lead rider in all the Noble Horse performances. Rich is a 1997 graduate of Midwest Horse Shoeing School, is currently an active horse shoer with Dan Sampson. Rich also performs at equestrian events throughout the Midwest.
